I’m back after a short break! Only to find that the days are getting short and it is dark before work finishes.
As you recover from the Halloween celebrations, you may (or may not) be looking out for some more refined entertainment in the coming days. The Schauspiel Frankfurt (Theatre) at Willy-Brandt-Platz have a nice service where they offer German plays occasionally with English subtitles. At the end of this week from Thursday to Saturday they will be performing ‘The Tale of Franz Biberkopf with the Tiger Lillies‘. It is a dark comedy so should be suitable to keep even the most infrequent theatre goers engaged for a couple of hours.
This will be particularly good if you are looking for a light-hearted way of getting some German practice without losing the plot. I’m not sure about others, but I certainly tend to lose track of the stories when trying to follow german for a couple of hours so the subtitles come in handy.
Keep your eyes open for more from the Schauspiel as they do selected plays with subtitles through out the year.
And tickets are available on all three nights still, but you should buy online asap, as places are now limited. Prices range from €8 for students up to €47 for the best seats.
