Frankfurt is famous for its skyline views and many bars, but this has got to be the best summer drinking spot in city with a view of the sun setting over the city and yet many people don’t know about it.

Main Cocktail Bar has been set up for 14 years running on the south bank of the river Main, directly opposite the new ECB tower. They set up between April to October whenever the weather is good and stay open until latest 1am if it is a really warm night (30 degrees). If it is windy, rainy or cold, then they won’t be there so check the website in advance. They update their website everyday with opening times, but generally are open from 1pm on a weekend or holiday and 4pm on a work day.

There are about 50-100 chairs set up along the river but also plenty of grass if you just want to bring a towel to sit on and sunbathe….
